Really good news H.P.: I am totally delighted by this news. I live at **** and am an immediate neighbour to Stockeld Park. He is not a good neighbour and it has been said that if he got this planning permission he would go for planning on all his land and give up farming. I am sure you realise that he will not give up! The presentation by Better Wetherby was excellent. Very professional, articulate, measured and well thought out. The impression I had was that your were ‘ all on top of the Job’. On the other hand, I thought the Stockeld Park presentation was disjointed and didn’t flow. Too much trying to find facts etc. within files, which really should have been to hand. I know I am biased, but congratulations to all involved. You did a great job and both you and Wetherby, can be justifiably proud of a fantastic appeal and outcome. B.M.: Thank you Better Wetherby. It is a sensational result. M.H.: Well done, congratulations to all the Better Wetherby team and thank you so much for all of your efforts. P.S.: Thank you for sharing this wonderful news. Congratulations to everyone involved in representing the best interests of Wetherby. I don’t imagine it is easy ‘fighting’ against a determined, well funded and experienced opponent, but you guys did it. Well done! A.H.: Well done Better Wetherby. I certainly disagree with one comment, namely that pedestrians would not be affected. I live near to Wentworth Gate and as an elderly person I am afraid to attempt crossing the road there. There is no footpath on my side of the road and so I can’t reach the pedestrian crossing at Chatsworth Drive and there are two bends in the road which, especially in the dark, make it impossible to judge how fast traffic is approaching. Adding any more traffic from a development would only exacerbate the problem. It seems to me that people have to be killed before anybody is prepared to make it safe. Moan over, I will just have to keep using my car as long as I can which isn’t good for the environment. Once again well done and thanks for all the good work you are doing. P.G.: Warm congratulations to the BW team on their major contribution to this important victory. Now you can focus on the Racecourse Approach campaign – and when you have triumphed there, please focus on ameliorating Wetherby’s traffic problems, either by means of a short northern by-pass to take Harrogate traffic out of our town centre, or such other even more effective alternative scheme as you can devise.
