Leeds Local Plan Consultation
Housing Needs to 2042
|
The map below shows the various sites around Wetherby that have been submitted to local councils with a view to being developed over the next 10-20 years. More details are in the LCC call for sites document (pdf file) which highlights that Wetherby has more than met its housing needs, there is still opportunity for you to comment on these sites, but you must do so before 15th September.
It is important to note that the sites to the north of the black line are in North Yorkshire, we expect that another consultation will commence in a few months time asking for comments on these sites - we wil keep you informed. |

As mentioned in the August Newsletter Leeds City Council (LCC) have launched its public consultation on its local plan in summary the local plan is:
Of particular interest locally will be the housing plans for Wetherby and surrounding area, which come under the Leeds "Outer North East" area, deemed as having an overall housing need of 2,186 homes out of a total of 76,817 homes needed throughout Leeds (see www/leedslocalplanouternortheast.commonplace.is/en-GB) |
The local plan consultation includes ALL sites that have been submitted to LCC for consideration, there are currently about 6 times more than are needed to meet the housing throughout the whole Leeds district, so inevitably many of the current sites will be rejected. The consultation exercise seeks to determine the views of residents as to which sites should / should not be developed.
You can open a map showing the sites in Outer North East here, this shows all sites with their current high level assessment -- Green (lots of positives), yellow (a few negatives), orange (a lot of negatives) or red (some serious concerns). Clicking on a site gives more details on this assessment and provides opportunity to comment. Note that the current assessment is principally a 'desk-top (AI?)' review and LCC would welcome comments on the accuracy of these assessments.
